Stingy with the Awards at D&AD

The Serif stirred up a hornet's nest when it posted about the D&AD awards this year. No graphic design was selected for an award this year and then opened the topic for discussion. Most notably, D&AD charges upwards of $400 per entry threrby eliminating many smaller firms from entering their competition. Other suggest that D&AD focus more specifically on the advertising side of our business and thus are less interested in the design work. I noticed that no one was even nominated in the typography category. Sheesh.

[Artwork shamelessly lifted from The Serif. It was too good to ignore.]
