826 Valencia, The Pirate Shop

826 Valencia is a San Francisco organization that helps students get excited about writing through workshops, field trips and tutoring. It was founded by Dave Eggers and the organization is now run by a league of volunteers and professionals They have established an "independent pirate supply shop" as a storefront of the operation out of necessity. A city ordinance required that the space chosen for the writing workshop be either a retail or restaurant, thus the pirate shop was born. Besides selling pirate clothing, eye patches and pirate dice, the shop also features book published by 826 Valencia of students work. The web store is now featuring specialty posters created Office and a series of great t-shirts and other pirate must-haves.
