The Midcentury Modernist: Home decor porn for designers

From Eames to appliances, The Midcentury Modernist is now officially my favorite home decor blog. Gorgeous plywood furniture and those deliciously minimalist lines from California to Sweden, this is a feast for the eyes. Warning: maybe be detrimental to bank account. You've been warned.

Furniture Designer: Jennifer Newman

U.K. furniture designer, Jennifer Newman has created a trolley cart specifically for artists and designers. Students in the Textile and Fiber Studios at Bath Spa University were each given a cart for their supplies. Sweet deal!

The fruitful results of collaboration

Awhile ago I posted about how Design Within Reach and Parsons Illustration department teamed up to re-imagine the chair. Finally, the results of the collaboration and the story behind it are now up DWR blog. For those in New York, you can check out the chairs in person by stopping by DWR's West 14th Street Studio from December 12 through January 20th.

Wrongwoods

Saw The Wrongwood collection last weekend at Moss here in NYC and I totally love it. Reminds me of retro furniture gone bad with 80s neon punk colors in plywood texture pattern.

Great journals and furniture

[Above: Journals on Truck Furniture site. check under the zakka section to see them.]

My boss showed me these journals today at work and I just love them. They are sold by japanese furniture company called Truck Furniture. Also check out their furniture. I love the simple and clean lines. Reminds me of the modern mid-century furniture that I lust after.

Parsons and DWR team up

Design Within Reach and Parsons, the New School for Design have teamed up on a fun project. A group of illustration students from Parsons were giving a Bellini Chair and George Nelson's How To See and asked to re-image the chair with any materials they see fit. Check back to the DWR blog to see the progress and the final chairs will be displayed at the DWR Meatpacking District Studio in January.

eames elephants

The grandson of Ray and Charles Eames, Eames Demetrios, put together a short movie celebrating his grandfather's 100th birthday and the limited edition release of the Eames Elephants. The Elephants were designed in 1945 and never released. Now, Vitra Design Museum and the Eames Office team up to bring out a limited edition of the Elephants just in time for Charles's birthday.
