For those of you looking to do this weekend here in NYC, try swinging by the Blip Festival in Brooklyn where around 40 artists and musicians will be making music and images from old video games and home computers. The fest stretches over 4 days can covers everything from performances to hands-on workshops.
New Kayne West video done by Murakami. It reached #1 on the iTunes video store within one day of it's release. Super cool.

Chip Kidd is a man of many talents. He is a engaging writer, talented designer and now you can add musician to the list. He has teamed up with Mars Trillion to create Artbreak which they lovingly describe as "Bowie crashing The Cars into Joy Division going 300 miles per hour at 4am on Abbey Road." Sound yummy.

About a month ago, I got to visit the set where Michael Gondry was filming the music video for Bjork (by the invitation of my boss's wife). My favorite points were seeing Bjork in person and checking out how Gondry works. Now, you can peak at the making of the video too. Check it out here.

The aiga has a great interview up about John Berg, who was the art director for Columbia/CBS Records from 1961 until 1985. He over saw some of the most iconic record covers working with some of the best photographers and illustrators of the times such as Richard Avedon, Milton Glaser, Paul Davis and Seymour Chwast.
The White Stripes found a new way to package their new album for their fans. In addition to tradition cds, the band packaged their new album on a USB 2.0 flash drive. Fans can buy a USB that looks like Meg or Jack depending on which rocker they like best. If they can't decide, they can can buy one of each. The drives come with the new album and once you download the mp3s, you get a rockin' looking USB drive to use. Buy them at the White Strips store. It will be interesting to see if any other bands follow this trend.
This video for the band Justice's song called D.A.N.C.E. has been making the rounds, but I thought I would post it. You must love the type and the illustrations which are 80s pop rock meets 60s Push Pin Studios illustrations with a smidge of Fort Thunder thrown in. Nice to see a cool song surrounded by a video that is mainly funky, fun type and design. We aren't the only ones to notice. Colette in Paris was selling a few of the t-shirts seen in the video. Needless to say, they were quickly snapped up.
