Discerning House Numbers

Design Within Reach offers a great selection of house numbers that put the local Home Depot to shame. Designed by the venerable Erik Spiekermann and available in Bodoni, Meta, Stencil or "Tech" numbers, the hardest part will be deciding which will look best on my house or just stuck randomly to my walls. Currently on sale for $19.98 per digit.

For more information on how Mr. Spiekermann created the house numbers, refer to his January 2007 archives on his blog.

More house numbers are available at Custom House Numbers including Neutraface, the perfect accent to your mid-century modern ranch. Other faces available are Futura, Franklin Gothic, Clarendon, and dozens of others. Neurtraface house numbers can also be purchased at DWR for $75 each.

Last, but certainly not least, Weston Letters also offers an array of tasteful options at similar prices. If I were to base my decision entirely on which web site was the most pleasing to navigate, I'd have to choose DWR regardless of price or selection, though the current sale prices make it a pretty affordable option.
